Welcome to this Blog!

The far-sighted vision of Mandolin Maestro Padmashree U. Shrinivas has paved the way for the setting up of a unique Music School - "Shrinivas Institute of World Music" (SIOWM).

This institution is one of its kind; unique, marvellous, enthralling, enchanting - in short, an experience that would make life worth living. Every class breathes life into the dreams and aspirations of us students. This blog is a humble attempt to express the joy and excitement we experience in our classes, and also our inexpressible gratitude to our Guruji.

It is our great privilege to welcome you to discover what a great experience learning carnatic music is.

Bienvenue! Swaagatham!

NAMASTE SIR.

IT’S A BLESSING, PRIVILEGE AND ONE OF MY BIGGEST “DREAM COME TRUE” TO BE A STUDENT OF THE GREAT PADMASHREE SIR MANDOLIN U SHRINIVAS AND SIR MANDOLIN U RAJESH .AT THE SIOWM I EXPERIENCE THE SHEER JOY OF LISTENING TO “THE MESMERISING MELODY WITH UTMOST DEVOTION “ FLOWING OUT OF MY GURUJI’S CUTE MAGICAL MANDOLIN . IS THERE ANY BIGGER JOY THAN BEING A STUDENT OF THE CREATOR HIMSEIF…? I AM EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE A PART OF SIOWM, AND TO HAVE ITS FELLOW STUDENTS AS MY FRIENDS. I WANT TO BE MY “FAVORITE GURUJI’S” STUDENT FOREVER.

VANDANAMU.

SHRINIVASJI IS A DOWN TO EARTH PERSON.

THE GENEROSITY OF SUCH A GREATEST SCHOLAR, ARTISTE AND GURU IN IMPARTING HIS TECHNIQUES TO ANY ONE WHO APPROACHES HIM WITHOUT ANY CONDITIONS IS REALLY HEAVEN ON EARTH.

TO LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC ITSELF IS GREAT. TO TALK TO HIM IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. TO GET AN OFFER TO TEACH MY SON FROM HIM IS "POORVA JANMA PUNYAM".

I ADMIRE NOT ONLY THE SKILLS OF BOTH SHRINIVASJI AND RAJESHJI BUT ALSO THE COMMITMENT TOWARDS DEVELOPING OTHERS AMIDST THEIR TIGHT SCHEDULES.

WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO PRAISE THE GENIUSES ONLY OUR GRATITUDES.

PROUND PARENTS OF KESHAV ONE OF HIS SISHYAS.

Humble pranams to Anna

Its almost 30years back,
I wrote an essay
“About my School”
30yrs later, life has given me
A great opptunity to pen down something
“About my Music school SIOWM”

I don’t remember the day
When my mother, first taught me how to walk.
I don’t remember the day,
When my father, first took me to the school
But I can never forget the day
When anna holded my fingers and
Taught me the saralivarisai.
Its 4th August 1997, my enrollment in to this great school.

I am sure Its my Janmantra Punya
to be a student in this school.

I hate going my regular school
But I will never be late
To my music school (SIOWM)
I would like to bunk my regular school
And would like to sink in my musik school

SIOWM is a beautiful school with few classmates,
The primary job of each student
Is to adore and admire their wounderful teacher.

In every school, to every student
there's a special teacher.
To every teacher, to every student
there's a special bond.
To every bond to every moment
There's a special time
But for all of our students,
Each and every class and
every minute with anna is special

As a student I learnt a lot from Anna,
Not only music but also
S implicity,
H umbleness
R eligious,
I nternational,
N oble,
I nnovative,
V ery modest,
A pprochable
S incere

In short I learnt what Anna means (SHRINIVAS)

School without ragging is not a fun
SIOWM is not an exception to it.
Here each senior used to rag the junior
With their musical skills.
Maximum ragging is from our Senior most student.
This senior most student is the tallest in our school,
Both by virtue of height and by virtue of knowledge.(Rajesh Ji just joking)

I used to fight with this senior student, saying
What I am playing is not that soft / soothing as you play,
He said during the initial days, he used to fight the same with our teacher
Also he used to pacify me saying
It will come as you keep practicing.
I dint understand the meaning of the word “Practise”
Untill I repeated the same sentence to my junior.

As a student of SIOWM, I salute and admire my teacher,
As I learn a great lessons from him,
I like the dedicated work of my teacher,
Anna gave me the light to the eternal music,
He gives his hand to build up his school with his abundant knowledge,
As a teacher, he teaches various manners of life,
He makes to blossom the talents of student’s life.

To me Anna is God,
I worship him for my every succssefull step.

Due to natures contingency,
I am pulled away from this great school
But I am sure, this is only for a short period.
May be I will think it is an extented annual holiday.

I promise anna, that I will come back again
And would like to be a life long student in this school
Sorry this great University.

Guru Bhrama Gurur Vishnu
Guru Dhevo, Maheshwara:
Guru sakshath, param Bramha
Thamai Sri Anna namaha.

With Humble pranams from Shivram

I in fact had the pleasure of going to his concert just 2 days back here in Sivam, Hyderabad. It was just awesome as ever! I am sure I would be benefited in some way through this blog and it is really great to see you guys learning from non other than the master himself!

I also listen to a lot of his music very often.

He truly is a very humble & down to earth person! I wish I could learn from him!!

I would like to wish Srinivas a very happy birthday. I am a huge fan and am eagerly waiting for the Remember Shakti concert in Carnegie Hall.
One thing I would like to see on this website is Srinivas' upcoming schedule. Another thing if possible, would be to list all his albums.
